About the Artwork

This print is a signed, limited edition print, entitled "Jungle Girl", purchased from an art collector who themselves got it from reputable auction house, Waddington's. In a stark black and white print, the etching is visually dense and nearly reminiscent of the stereoscopic images popular in the 1990s, where you had to look at it in a certain way to understand the image. With this, you see the eponymous jungle girl rowing a canoe nearly immediately, but it's only after studying it more closely that one sees that a chimpanzee is clinging onto her, and there may be a jaguar lurking in the bushes to her left. In the second image, collaged at the left of the main image, there is a mysterious face, possibly from a monument? This work is truly one that reveals itself slowly to its viewer.
